For some reason, I am obsessed about the subject of mixed marriage - probably because my dad was Catholic and my mom was Jewish. I was raised Catholic. If my mom had heard about this no Eucharist in the service 15 years after their Catholic wedding, she would have expressed anger. At the time, though, she cooperated completely. When I told her that if I were to marry a non-Catholic, I would leave the Catholic Church, though, she strongly opposed the idea and said I might regret it later and that a girl, who would force me out of my religion, is not the kind I should marry. Also, I am now 56 and have never been married, and I might have known subconsciously at 19 that I would never marry. Hence, it was safe for me to start talking that I would leave the Church, etc. |
